Frontend Web Designer. What is that and what do you do?
I design and develop the part of the website you see -- the visual aspects. Nearly all of my work is either with a Content Management System (Drupal, Wordpress etc etc) or with E-commerce systems. Both involve creating a theme or skin for the systems. However, that is not all I do. I can also create static XHTML websites, or create a website/theme from an existing PSD design.
What about backend development?
I use a Ukrainian development company for any backend needs. I wouldn't be able to compete for many of the projects out there if I didn't have ties with backend developers. The company I use has over fifteen developers covering all languages and frameworks.
What does that mean for me?
It means you tell me what you require and I can get it done, regardless of how much programming is required. I will do all the frontend work, my developers do the backend work. The rates for any backend work are the same as my frontend work - £25 per hour. I will project manage everything, so you do not have to get involved with the developers.
What packages do you have experience with?
Drupal, Wordpress, Joomla, Magento, Opencart, Zencart.
What is your hourly rate?
£25 per hour
What is your skillset?
CSS, XHTML, Jquery. I also know enough about PHP to modify themes I create.
Where are you based?
South West London
Can you give me a rough idea of your turnaround time?
This will differ for each project, but generally PSD to XHTML/Theme projects are done within 48 hours. For theme design and coding, anywhere between 1-3 weeks. For an E-commerce installation, usually between 4-8 weeks, but here the turnaround time will differ greatly depending on payment gateway integration and product databases. For example, if you already have an existing store and want to redesign or migrate to another package, then you'd be looking at 2-4 weeks. However, if you have nothing, then I'd suggest 8 weeks or even more. You'd be surprised how much hard work goes into a product database containing a thousand products each with a couple of attributes.
What are your payment terms?
For non-UK clients, payment upfront. For UK clients, generally 50% deposit and the remainder paid on completion of the work. For large projects I am happy to start with a 25% deposit and staged payments. I will confirm my payment terms when I send you a quote, though, to avoid any misunderstandings.
